Timothy was referred to Housing for Homeless by Crosswinds in December 2014. At the time he was living in the woods and streets of Cocoa struggling to survive during the winter months. Timothy did not have a car and relied on the bus for transportation or walked wherever he needed to go. The local shelters and food pantries were his regular places to go for a hot meal, shower and to wash his clothes. Although Timothy grew up in Cocoa his entire life, he had very little family, but always kept his head up and a positive outlook.
In January, 2015 Mr. Jackson was able to meet with the intake specialist and send the necessary documents to start his application process. During the middle part of February there was a 1 bedroom vacancy in Titusville. He was happy to have a place to live and moved in the week of February 20th. Housing for Homeless was able to use the CBO (Community Based Organization) grant to help him with his security deposit. Mr. Jackson has adjusted well to living in Titusville, he has a bicycle to get around town and found a church he likes. Presently he is working on getting his driver’s license reinstated. He is doing great and paid his first month rent in March. Mr Jackson is now working in Titusville,Fl!! We are proud of Mr Timothy Jackson!!
Man of Encouragement
Anthony C. was living in the park bathroom, he went to the VA came into The Housing for Homeless program for about seven months and received HUD/Vash.(Housing Funding by Veteran Affairs) He lives about a block away from the office, he comes in to us our computers so we see him weekly. We got him CBO( Community Based Organization )funds for his deposits. Staff at the Housing for Homeless drove him and helped to get furniture so he had a bed that was not on the floor. He is still in his apartment and has helped another fellow veteran who was waiting on Hud/Vash. We are proud of Anthony and believe he is an amazing man!!!
